Stamp Duty Land Tax (further update)

Mar 6, 2021

Stamp Duty and what it means

By now you’ll no doubt be aware that the government changed the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) threshold on 8th July 2020 until 31st March 2021 (now extended to 30th June 2021 following the budget of 3rd March 2021 - see more below). This change came about to help keep the property market buoyant in these times of uncertainty.

If the housing market dips, generally the economy dips too.

As the country is still suffering economically, does this mean the Chancellor will extend the SDLT threshold beyond 31st March 2021 and what does it mean to the Peterborough Property Market

Rumour has it that SDLT will be extended for a further 3 months until the end of June 2021. All will be revealed in the budget of March 3rd 2021. Keep reading updates on here to keep abreast of what’s happening.

As mentioned in our update on 25th February 2021, the SDLT thresholds have been extended for a further 3 months from 31st March 2021 to 30th June 2021. This is truly fantastic news and should keep the property market buoyant through these uncertain times!
